Mercedes: Unchained. Moving Picture Company. August 2011.

This project kept me busy over the summer. I was very impressed with how well it was shot, and with plates that looked that good to start with, it opened up a lot of possibilities. Some chains needed to be added in shots that couldn't be shot practically with them.

My task was to make those chains and after exploring several options, used hair simulation to base the rigs on.

Directv: Hothouse. Moving Picture Company. April 2011.

In mid-February I came back to MPC for another Directv commercial. When I got there, I saw they were finishing the edit of what must have been a very fun shoot. I was given the task of creating a lot of cg fire for multiple shots. The challenge was matching the cg fire to the practical elements, and also make it look interesting during the freeze frames.

The key elements that I made were ones around the freeze frames and shots with big 3d camera moves. The fire was made with Maya Fluids and then comped with nuke and flame.

Kirby's Epic Yarn. Superfad. October 2010.

Kirby's Epic Yarn for Nintendo Wii was done at Superfad in Los Angeles. I returned back to a studio that I used to call home a few years ago, and joined a great team of other 3d Artists to visualize Kirby turning a city into his yarn world. I did regular 3d generalist duties, including the yarn explosions and covering a building in a cloth explosion.

WWE Smackdown. Shilo. September 2010.

This year at Laguna Seca, I shared a garage with Jose Gomez who had just got done directing the shoot for this series of commercials. After hearing his enthusiasm for it, I went down to Shilo in San Diego a week later to work on the post for it.
I was VFX Supervisor on two out of the five 15 second pieces,"Kofi Kingston" and "The Big Show". I also did a good amount of the animation and FX on those 2 spots. Later on, a directors cut was edited to show the highlights of each spot.

ESPN College Football. Troika Deisgn Group. August 2010.

I went to Troika Design Group in Hollywood for most of the summer this year, to join the team to make the broadcast package for ESPN's college football, college gameday, and everything else involved with college football. Lot's of late nights, empty boxes of pizza, and several modifications to the air conditioner later, close to 100 deliverables were made for this season's college football.
